GREEN SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS AND SAFEGUARD OF THE SEA: BOAT SHOWS ARE BACK!
Boat shows are finally back, eager to show visitors all the latest news of the Nautical Industry
Boat shows are finally back, eager to show visitors all the latest news of the Nautical Industry. Environmental sustainability, eco-performing solutions to reduce the environmental impact of the marine industry on the sea and marine ecosystems: these are some of the in depth-topics faced during the 2021 Boat Shows.
It’s possible to enjoy boating without destroying the environment and it’s in everyone’s interests to build a clean marine environment.
This is the common thinking of the main exibithors of Cannes Yachting Festival, Southampton International Boat Show, the Monaco Yacht Show, Salerno Boat Show and Genoa International Boat Show. Let’s see in detail the main new features.
The “Green Path” of Cannes Yachting Festival
This year the Cannes Yachting Festival offered visitors a complete ”Green path” with more than 50 exhibitors, recognizable by a logo with the words "Green route", which signals exhibitors who develop or present a project in favour of ecology. But what’s new is that for the first time in the history of the Yachting Festival, the Vieux Port hosted a nautical zone exclusively dedicated to 100% electric and hybrid boats.
Southampton International Boat Show presents the “Oyster Project”
This year the Southampton International Boat Show focused on the environment and what manufacturers and customers can do to better support the natural environment. Among the relevant projects presented during the Festival, it’s worth mentioning the Wild Oysters project aiming to restore Britain’s seas to health through the restoration of the native oyster. Oyster reefs clean our coastal waters and create an important habitat for other marine animals.

The culture of the sea, the behavioral values inspired by the protection of the environmental and landscape resources of the Salerno Coast. These are the main key points of Salerno Boat Show that will take place during the weekend of 2-3 and 9-10 October at Marina D'Arechi-Salerno Port Village, one of the most charming and glamorous scenery of the Italian coast, located in the heart of the Gulf of Salerno, a few miles sailing from the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri.
Genoa International Boat Show looks at a sustainable future
Technology, design and science for the sustainable future of the sea. At the Genoa Boat Show, which saw the Ligurian University and Legambiente allies for the sustainable future of the sea and navigation, the themes, that of environmental sustainability combined with that of the type of design and materials used in the construction of boats, go on the same side. It’s worth mentioning the M/Y Amer 120, flagship of the Amer Yachts Shipyard, built with an innovative technique that allows the reduction of the composite using Filava, a material consisting of a mineral fiber of volcanic origin based on enriched basalt, 100% recyclable and able to replace the fiberglass.

During the luxurious Monaco Yacht Show, Baglietto Shipyard presented the interesting B zero Project which sanctions Baglietto's vision and his strong involvement for an increasingly sustainable and green nautical sector. Primary objective’s project is to increase the electric cruising range of the boat in zero emissions mode. It does this by integrating fuel cell technology on a hybrid or diesel-electric platform onboard Baglietto yachts.
