Flying Charter Celebrates his 19th birthday: The story of a success

With over 2000 charters performed maintaining a spotless reputation, we are happy to celebrate our 19th year of activity with an ever-growing motivation to continue the positive trend we’ve always been on since our early stages.

Flying Charter takes part in many of the word's most important yachting fairs and events

Our Company was born from the passion and deep knowledge of the sea that has led Carlo Pettorosso to found it in 1997, after a long career in the maritime field as owner and skipper of a charter yacht. Since then, it’s been a long sequence of successes for us: we started as a Central Agency for charter of one single yacht and grew our fleet year after year until getting to manage 16 yachts as worldwide sole agent, in 2006 Carlo achieved the qualification of Registered Shipbroker, in 2011 we became corporate MYBA (Mediterranean Yacht Broker Association) members and our CEO was also appointed Individual MYBA member in 2012. In 2015, we refreshed our Marketing Department with a new passionate director, Luce di Lella, and we’re currently working on a brand new website and on a complete renewal of our company image.
With a bunch of Celebrities among our loyal customers and a percentage of satisfied guests next to 100%, we wondered about the main factors contributing to our success. Speaking with Carlo, it turned out that probably, the reason why our guests are so happy about their experience with us, is that we only accord the 20% of importance, for the positive outcome of a charter, to the yacht itself.  “I am fully convinced that, in most cases, it is the crew that makes the charter. A well trained, professional and experienced staff is key to success as it will be able to anticipate the needs of every guest and to pamper them with a first class service. That’s why we personally meet and select every crew member and we’re in close contact with them for the whole duration of each cruise. Last but not least, a well-planned itinerary will do the trick. Having worked onboard myself, I have an extensive experience of the Mediterranean coasts; moreover our head office is in the heart of our main cruising area and this allows us to craft perfectly tailored travel plans, because we’ve been to almost every destination, port or restaurant that we’re suggesting and we’ve selected only the very best”, said Carlo.

A very special welcome gift for one of our most loyal customers

Now that the factors contributing to an unforgettable cruising holiday are clear, we asked him which are, in his opinion, the main skills that make a good broker. “Being well organized is crucial, as well as keeping a close eye to every detail of the whole charter process, from the moment of the choice of the yacht to the disembarkation of the guests. Furthermore, it is essential to always be reachable, to have good interpersonal skills and also a strong patience because in our work we need to keep on good terms with clients, owners and colleagues. Our guests are very demanding because they’re used to a high standard of luxury and sometimes it’s hard to please their requests”. Well, we definitely agree, we love our job  because of its dynamism and its challenges and we love the fact that it provides us a lot of funny anecdotes. Are you curious? We’ll tell you one: Our clients, already on one of our yacht, asked us to arrange an urgent transfer with a private flight and limousine for a VIP guest who had to reach them on board immediately. We quickly set up everything and once the plane landed, the limousine chauffeur eventually discovered the VIP identity: a cheerful little dog ready to reach its owners for his first cruising experience! The happy faces of the owners meeting up with their beloved dog, fully repaid the effort of arranging an urgent transfer in the middle of our busiest period. Because we’re on a mission: making our guest’s dream holiday come true.
Happy Birthday Flying Charter!
